This is Izzy Calligan, a Briton who I’ve known for a few years working in the local wedding industry. The angle for the shot was that she’s a dreamer and a hopeless romantic, so we put her on her bed with a few props and some simple lighting. Kudos to Tyler Hansen, whose design was so cool that I had to include the layout of this one.

Aspiring Olympian, local 15 year-old skier Aaron Blunck. I needed to get a portrait of him in late September, when the only snow still around is in the shade at 12,000 feet. The answer? Strong composition and using color in a nod to one of my photo heroes, Pete Turner.
